Understanding hops — where research meets craftsmanship

If you really want to understand “green gold”, this is the right place for you: At the globally unique hop research center Hüll, you will get to know researchers and get a glimpse behind the scenes. Interesting facts such as the latest news on hop research, climate resistance and the latest breeding methods will be provided to you directly by experts. In order to combine theory and practice, a visit to a hop farm with a private tour and an insight into harvesting technology is a must. As a real highlight, an interactive and professional beer tasting session awaits you. Look forward to inspiring expert days in the middle of the Hallertau hop region and experience first-hand how modern science, traditional hop farming and Bavarian beer culture are combined.

        Best time to travel

        The trip is from  Mid-May to mid/end of September  can be booked and offers unforgettable insights into the world of hops during this time. It will be particularly spectacular during the  Hops harvest  from September 3 to 15 (approx.), when the traditional craft can be experienced live — an absolute highlight for all beer and pleasure lovers!

        Transfers

        We are happy to arrange suitable transfers for your individual arrival and departure. On request, a transfer can be booked from Freising, Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm or Rohrbach an der Ilm train stations and from Munich Airport. A hotel transfer (round trip) or an individual transfer for the entire day can also be arranged subject to availability.

        Rental bikes & e-bikes

        If you want to actively explore Hallertau, you can book bicycles & e-bikes on request and subject to availability. You will also receive the corresponding .gpx file for your mobile navigation device. Please note that some of the bikes are purchased from local suppliers.
